Fostering curiosity, camaraderie, and diversity through underwater Education and exploration.

Everyone should have access to the undersea world.

Chicago Undersea Explorers Society (CUES) is a group of scuba divers and friends who are excited to cultivate a community of diverse and fiercely curious underwater adventurers. Fundamentally, we strive to bring scuba education to historically excluded and underserved communities. With this mission as our guide, we share our love of scuba diving across Chicagoland one diver at a time.

What is CUES?

CUES was created by a dedicated group of scuba divers in early 2020. We are committed to creating an organization which prioritizes a passion for scuba diving, as well as the desire to share that passion with others.

How can I help?

CUES is a rapidly growing organization, and we would love for you to get involved! We are always looking for new volunteers and organizations to work with. If you would prefer to make a monetary donation to help support our activities, we are also a 501(c)(3) tax deductible charity.

“Even if you never have the chance to see or touch the ocean, the ocean touches you with every breath you take, every drop of water you drink, every bite you consume. Everyone, everywhere is inextricably connected to and utterly dependent upon the existence of the sea.”

— Dr. Sylvia Earle

There are thousands of fish in the sea; each one unique, and each one important.

At Chicago Undersea Explorers Society (CUES), we value your unique life experience and strive to create an inclusive environment where all members are deeply respected. Regardless of age, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, gender identity or expression, disability status, neurodiversity, citizenship, or any other feature that makes you unique, you are welcome here. Our world is teeming with life, and we hope to make our organization as diverse as the ocean's coral reefs.
